The Flowers
Today the flowers flashed
Their brilliant colors to me
Happy in the specter of the
Sunshine
The air gently caressed
My soul
Warming the deepest canyon
Of my pain
There is a lifting, ever so
Briefly
From the torment that
Haunts me day and night
I embrace this happiness
Like a kiss from a loved one
Special and precious
A gift given unconditionally
I can go forward, knowing that
There will be moments of
Relief and ease from my pain
Simply looking at flowers
I planted a tub of wildflowers
Just to watch them grow
To see the miracle of life
Spring forth once more
When will my journey end and
What will I learn along the way?
I don't care, for amidst the tears
Are watered daffodils
